A Festival's Aftermath

Yesterday was the festival of lights.
Perhaps the festival of noise, smoke, wasted paper and wasted energy too. Deepavali.
Through my window, I heard enough the whole day.
Through the same window, I hear the "music" of brooms cleaning up after yesterday's excesses.
The sound of that music has just moved on, and yesterday's leftovers are out again, to create further leftovers.
This in a city where there is no place to dispose of solid waste intelligently.

GREAT AMERICAN BALD EAGLE

This is a story of a family of Bald Eagles. Magnificent and beautiful. I have embedded a Live video stream of this family and one can watch Mother, Father and the chicks 24X7. I hope you'll read, watch, learn and enjoy!

I deleted the previous post and reposted this story because I had new updates about this Eagle family. I have been unable to unglue myself from watching them Live on cam till late in the night, daily. At any time, there are between 30,000 to over 150,000 viewers viewing this family and my post has Live Eagle cam.

Bangalore Amar Tinkle Club

“ Look, all the adults in the world are stupid,” I said, “ You know that!”. For once, we all agreed on the same point. “Uh-huh,”“ They are so dumb that they cut trees and stuff, and some people, like the ‘bad tree woman’ make a mess of the world. So, we should show them that kids have got tough stuff too, and we can be responsible. We are surely more brilliant in such matters than adults will ever be!”“Yeah!”. . .More. . .

Death of a roadside tree

In a tribute to the roadside tree that had its life so rudely cut short, Lakshmi plans to mobilise the young ones in her town, mostly Tinkle readers, for a tree-planting drive. . . . “I can’t keep quiet about such things,” she says. “If I talk to them (kids), perhaps the parents could become more sensible.” Are you still mad at your tree-killer neighbour, Lakshmi?. . .More. . . .

My favorite tree

The next day, I learned that my favorite tree had been axed to accommodate the neighbor’s car. I was devastated. I rushed to see my plant…and there it was. Completely chopped down. Uprooted. Leaves hanging meekly from the last remains of the plant. I almost cried. . .More. . . .
